The wood pile that extends past the rack frame are ideal for hanging a scarf, purse, hat, belt, etc. I have my work clothes for the week lined up, and the shelf at bottom holds my current purse (satchel type), with room for my leather pumps. Great organization piece! I plan to get another for the guest room as it will be handy for visitors as well. Love this and was well worth the money. Easy to assemble in my own.
